Capping an active year for tornadoes in Northern Ontario, this twister whipped through a lakeside property in a remote area 80 kilometres northwest of Kenora. The tornado struck a log cabin that was situated on a peninsula, tearing off facia and siding, as well as sections of the building’s roof and decks. Debris from the poorly-constructed cabin lay in piles around the yard and along the shore. Small trees near the cabin were also knocked over and snapped, and the damage path was estimated to be about 30 metres wide. The tornado was confirmed and rated EF0 after photos of the damage were sent into Ontario Tornado Watch and analyzed by Environment Canada researcher, Dave Sills.
