Figure 1 depicts the surface observations at 2:00 am EDT, which shows a series of cold fronts moving across the Great Lakes. A single cold front would later sweep through the northeast United States and trigger thunderstorms across Massachusetts, which ultimately led to this long-track F2 tornado.

The Middlesex County, MA F2 tornado of August 28, 1965 impacted Middlesex County in Massachusetts. According to NOAA (2019), the F2 tornado caused no fatalities or injuries, but caused $250 thousand dollars in property damage. The tornado touched down in New Hampshire near near the Massachusetts border at 2:10 pm EDT. The tornado travelled for 2 miles and had a maximum width of 33 yards.
