Portage La Prairie, MB F0 Tornado of May 31, 1996

Portage La Prairie - Headingly - Brunkild


Figure 1 shows the surface observations at 7:00 am CDT, which shows a cold front moving east across southern Manitoba. This front became the focus for thunderstorms in the early morning hours of May 31st, which ultimately led to this tornado.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (2018), an F0 tornado touched down at 6:35 am CDT in Portage La Prairie, MB. The track and width of the tornado was not documented by ECCC. The tornado caused no fatalities, injuries or property damage.
