Tornado devastates Haliburton Forest & Wildlife Reserve, levels swath of forest
The F1 tornado near Haliburton, Ontario. On its path that was 10km long and 300m wide, the tornado passed just north of Kenisis Lake and then through the Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve. Whole swaths of forest were destroyed, with trees uprooted, snapped and shorn off at their tops. In addition, a raised hiker’s boardwalk was destroyed. The tornado struck at approximately 8:00pm.
This was oneĀ of nineteen tornadoes that struck Southern and Central Ontario on August 20. Other tornadoes this day:
