Striking at 9:30 pm, this 90 metre-wide tornado travelled for 15 km, levelling swaths of forest and causing extensive damage at a mobile home park. The tornado was originally rated at F2, but was subsequently downgraded to F1 when it was learned that the ‘destroyed houses’ were trailer homes and not wood-frame houses. A witness captured photos of the tornado that showed a large cloud of debris.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (2018), an F1 tornado touched down at 9:30 pm EDT near Sturgeon Falls, ON. The tornado travelled for 15 km from Cache Bay to the north side of Sturgeon Falls with a maximum width of 50 metres. The tornado caused no fatalities, injuries and no property damage was logged by ECCC.
