Tornado touches down, hits village, leaves extensive damage to homes, properties

This was the second of three damaging tornadoes that sliced through Southern and Eastern Ontario on June 16; it touched down at 3:45pm and struck the village of Curries to the south of Woodstock. Witnesses reportedly observed the tornado as it caused damage in the community. Two barns and one metal outbuilding were destroyed, and two houses were also significantly damaged, one of which was shifted off of its foundation.

The other tornadoes that ripped through South Central and Eastern Ontario on this day were even more powerful and destructive. A long-track F2 tornado near Haliburton damaged and destroyed dozens of homes and cottages, while another damaging F2 passed from Elphin to Drummond Centre.
