Twin waterspout tornadoes spin over Lake Simcoe, residents watch from Beaverton

At around 8:00 pm on the evening of the August 9, a storm quickly pulsed and briefly took on supercell characteristics over the east side of Lake Simcoe. Two waterspouts spun up over the lake near Beaverton. Residents and boaters in the area captured photos and videos of the twin tornadoes which occurred close to the shoreline. This waterspout was the smaller of the two, a skinny rope tornado that accompanied a larger needle-shaped tornado. One photograph of the event suggests there may have been a third waterspout that occurred simultaneously, but this is difficult to confirm.
