Tornadic waterspout comes ashore at Port Burwell, uproots trees, damaging cars
On the oppressively humid evening of June 15, residents of Port Burwell first noticed this tornado as a cone-shaped waterspout set against a dark green sky over Lake Erie. It moved in from the southwest and came ashore in the small town where it uprooted hydro poles and huge trees which fell on parked cars. The tornado only lasted a short time before lifting off just northeast of the village limits. This was one of two tornadoes to hit southern Ontario on this day, the other being near Brantford. The storm system responsible produced 16 tornadoes in the United States, with 7 in touching down in southeast Michigan.
