Rozel, Kansas 5/18/2013 Tornado — Bryce Kintigh

We got off to an early start on May 18, 2013, spending some time in Greensburg, Kansas at the Big Well and at the big round barn southwest of Greensburg. Once storms fired, we followed them north until we stopped north of Kinsley, Kansas. We patiently waited for two small storms to combine, and when they did….magic happened.

Two storms combined forces and created a beautiful scene just down the road from where we sat. Below is a couple of YouTube videos from the chase.

Bryce Kintigh

Bryce has been chasing storms since 2003. Growing up on a farm in North Central Kansas, weather has always played a big role in his life. In 2018, Bryce finished his Certificate of Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University. His favorite weather memory would have to be seeing a large wedge tornado with a satellite tornado in 2007. When Bryce isn’t on the road chasing storms, he enjoys spending time with friends, cheering on the Kansas State Wildcats, and traveling. He hopes to visit every National Weather Service radar site in the nation, visiting over 135 thus far. Bryce is often heard on KAKE-TV, tracking storms all across Kansas and the Midwest.
