Brantford, ON F0 Tornado of July 13, 1995

Oxford - Brant

Trees were knocked down by this probable tornado that occurred at 8:00 pm. Witnesses observed the brief touchdown as a funnel cloud with a whirl of dirt and debris. This was one of two tornadoes to touch down in Southern Ontario on July 13; the other was an F0 at Boston.

Figure 1 shows the surface observations at 8:00 pm EDT, which depicts a surface high pressure over Lake Erie, with an outflow boundary near Buffalo. The combination of land-breeze and lift from the outflow boundary provided the necessary combination for thunderstorms on this otherwise nice day.
