Elphin to Drummond Centre, ON F2 Tornado of June 16, 1986

Smiths Falls - Lanark - Sharbot Lake


This was the final tornado of the June 16th event and it was another damaging one. It touched down at 4:55 pm and had a path that was 30-40 km long and up to 500m wide. It travelled from Elphin to Drummond Centre in Eastern Ontario, taking down swaths of forest and severely damaging barns and houses.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (2018), an F2 tornado touched down at 4:55 pm EDT near Elphin, ON and travelled for 35 km. The tornado caused no fatalities, injuries or property damage.
