Figure 1 depicts the surface observations at 2:30 am EDT, which shows a stationary front across the northeast United States. This front likely became the focus for thunderstorms in the late-afternoon hours of May 10th.

The Franklin County, MA F0 tornado of May 10, 1957 impacted Franklin County in Massachusetts. According to NOAA (2019), the F1 tornado caused no fatalities or injuries, but it caused $250 dollars in property damage. The tornado touched down in Franklin County east of East Hill Road at 5:35 pm EDT. The tornado travelled for 0.2 miles and had a maximum width of 17 yards.
