Figure 1 depicts the surface observations at 8:00 am EDT, which shows a stationary front on the east coast of the United States and across Massachusetts. This front was the focus of thunderstorm activity throughout the day on August 15th, which ultimately led to this tornado.

The Georgetown, MA F1 tornado of August 15, 1991 impacted Essex County in Massachusetts. According to NOAA (2019), the F1 tornado caused no fatalities or injuries, but caused $250 thousand dollars in property damage. The tornado touched down near North Street at 5:35 pm EDT. The tornado travelled for 0.8 miles and had a maximum width of 300 yards.
