Figure 1 depicts the surface observations at 2:00 am EDT, which shows a cold front in the northeast United States. This front eventually moved east toward Massachusetts and triggered thunderstorms, which ultimately led to two F2 tornadoes across the southwestern part of the state.
The Konkapot, MA F2 tornado of August 11, 1966 impacted Berkshire County in Massachusetts. According to NOAA (2019), the F2 tornado caused no fatalities or injuries, but caused $25 thousand dollars in property damage. The tornado touched down in Connecticut near Sodom at 6:00 pm EDT. The tornado travelled for 8 miles and had a maximum width of 33 yards.
