Mount Pleasant, ON F0 Tornado of August 15, 1989

This tornado occurred at 12:00 pm, touching down briefly and causing damage at area property. Witnesses reported observing a funnel cloud as it moved through their yard, snapping & uprooting several trees.

Figure 1 depicts the situation at the surface, with a cold front moving through southern Ontario. It is uncertain whether pre-frontal storms developed or if a trough initiated the storms that led to this tornado.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (2018), an F0 tornado touched down at 12:00 pm EDT near Mount Pleasant, ON. The track and width of the tornado was not documented by ECCC. The tornado caused no injuries, fatalities or property damage.
