Figure 1 depicts the surface observations at 8:00 am EDT, which shows a cold front moving across the northeastern United States. This front became the focus of thunderstorms in the early morning hours of November 7th, which ultimately led to this tornado.

The Newton Centre, MA F1 tornado of November 7, 1971 impacted Middlesex County in Massachusetts. According to NOAA (2019), the F1 tornado caused no fatalities or injuries, but caused $250 dollars in property damage. The tornado touched down near Beacon Street at 11:00 am EDT. The tornado travelled for 0.1 miles and had a maximum width of 33 yards.
