North Bay, ON F0 Tornado of May 31, 2002

North Bay - West Nipissing


This weak but photogenic cone tornado touched down near North Bay, travelling for 2 kilometres with a width of 120 metres. The tornado struck a steel fabrication factory, tearing off small sections of its sheet metal roof, smashing windows and ripping off a door. It also downed hydro poles and damaged a billboard. Debris was thrown for up to 1.5 kilometres. The tornado the caused damage to trees as it passed through a more forested area, and destroyed a small cabin.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (2018), an F0 tornado touched down at 4:22 pm EDT near North Bay, ON. The tornado travelled for 2 km with a maximum width of 120 metres. The tornado caused no fatalities, injuries or property damage.
