Figure 1 depicts the surface observations at 2:00 am EDT, which shows a cold front moving through the Great Lakes. This front eventually moved east-southeast toward Massachusetts and triggered thunderstorms, which ultimately led to two tornadoes across the state.

The Orange, MA F1 tornado of July 29, 1964 impacted Franklin County in Massachusetts. According to NOAA (2019), the F1 tornado caused no fatalities or injuries, but caused $25 thousand dollars in property damage. The tornado touched down in Franklin County near West Orange at 4:45 pm EDT. The tornado travelled for 4.3 miles and had a maximum width of 33 yards.
