Pembroke, ON F1 Tornado of October 25, 2001

Renfrew - Pembroke - Barry's Bay


This F1 tornado touched down in Pembroke in the early morning hours, downing trees, destroying two sheds, and damaging the roof at a Best Western motel. Figure 1 depicts the surface observations at 8:00 am EDT, which shows an occluding low pressure system over eastern Ontario.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (2018), an F1 tornado touched down at 7:00 am EDT near Pembroke, ON. The path and width of the tornado was not documented by ECCC. The tornado caused no fatalities or injuries, but caused $75 thousand dollars in property damage.
