Petersfield, MB F0 Tornado of October 8, 1997

Selkirk - Gimli - Stonewall - Woodlands


Figure 1 shows the surface observations at 1:00 pm CDT, which shows a stationary front across southern Manitoba. This front was the focus for showers and thunderstorms in the early afternoon hours of October 8th, which ultimately led to this tornado.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (2018), an F0 tornado touched down at 1:05 pm CDT near Petersfield, MB. The path and width of the tornado was not documented by ECCC. The tornado caused no fatalities, injuries or property damage.
