Figure 1 depicts the surface observations at 8:00 am EDT, which shows Tropical Storm Allison south of Massachusetts and a cold front in western Massachusetts. This front became the focus for thunderstorms in the morning hours of June 17th, which led to this tornado.

The Princeton, MA F1 tornado of June 17, 2001 impacted Worcester County in Massachusetts. According to NOAA (2019), the F1 tornado caused no fatalities or injuries, but caused $25 thousand dollars in property damage. The tornado touched down southeast of Princeton at 11:41 am EDT. The tornado travelled for 0.8 miles and had a maximum width of 600 yards.
