Ste Jean Baptiste, MB F0 Tornado of July 9, 1996

Figure 1 shows the surface observations at 1:00 pm CDT, which shows a large area of high pressure across southern Manitoba. Convergence is observed in southwestern Manitoba, likely due to the Manitoba Escarpment and lake-breeze boundary from Lake Manitoba. This localized area of convergence was likely the cause of two tornadoes across southern Manitoba in the afternoon hours of July 9th.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (2018), an F0 tornado touched down at 1:45 pm CDT near Ste Jean Baptiste, MB. The track and width of the tornado was not documented by ECCC. The tornado caused no fatalities, injuries or property damage.
