Dodge City / Ford County landfill tornado: May 24, 2016 — Bryce Kintigh

We had been chasing this supercell for going on two hours. It produced tornado after tornado, but we were in for quite an exciting ride when one tornado dissipated and another formed right in front of us.

A tornado spun up quickly approximately 5 miles north of Dodge City, Kansas.

This tornado developed and rolled over a mainly rural area, but unfortunately hit the Ford County Landfill building, which can be seen in the debris circulating around the tornado. The video is to follow.

Bryce has been chasing storms since 2003. Growing up on a farm in North Central Kansas, weather has always played a big role in his life. In 2018, Bryce finished his Certificate of Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University. His favorite weather memory would have to be seeing a large wedge tornado with a satellite tornado in 2007. When Bryce isn’t on the road chasing storms, he enjoys spending time with friends, cheering on the Kansas State Wildcats, and traveling. He hopes to visit every National Weather Service radar site in the nation, visiting over 135 thus far. Bryce is often heard on KAKE-TV, tracking storms all across Kansas and the Midwest.
