Severe winds in Southern Kansas 7/14/2023 — Bryce Kintigh

Storms developed the afternoon of July 14, mostly causing damaging winds. The worst damage was noted across portions of Eastern Kansas, where the Kansas City metro area reported a wind gust of 89 mph, and the Iola, Kansas area had numerous trees down.

We quickly moved south of the Wichita metro and jumped on a supercell near Attica, Kansas. It had a pretty look for a bit, but quickly became a wind machine and slowly dissipated.

Bryce has been chasing storms since 2003. Growing up on a farm in North Central Kansas, weather has always played a big role in his life. In 2018, Bryce finished his Certificate of Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University. His favorite weather memory would have to be seeing a large wedge tornado with a satellite tornado in 2007. When Bryce isn’t on the road chasing storms, he enjoys spending time with friends, cheering on the Kansas State Wildcats, and traveling. He hopes to visit every National Weather Service radar site in the nation, visiting over 135 thus far. Bryce is often heard on KAKE-TV, tracking storms all across Kansas and the Midwest.
