Mother Nature decided to put on her own fireworks show during the late afternoon of July 4, 2026.

The Storm Prediction Center had an Enhanced Risk of some severe storms, mainly producing damaging winds, across portions of Kansas and Oklahoma.
Storms erupted along a residual outflow boundary just south of Wichita during the afternoon and storms quickly became severe.

Storms congealed into a line fairly quickly and moved southeast – so the chase was brief and didn’t interrupt much in the way of personal Independence Day festivities.

Until next time –
